Governor Mike DeWine issues a directive for Ohio flags to be raised for Trump’s inauguration and lowered to honor Jimmy Carter’s legacy.

Governor Mike DeWine has directed that Ohio state flags be raised in honor of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance’s inauguration on Monday, January 20th. The flags will be lowered the next day to honor former President Jimmy Carter, who died recently.


This move aligns with a national custom of lowering flags to half-staff to honor significant figures. JD Vance, a Middletown native who just resigned as a United States senator from Ohio to prepare for his role as vice president.

To commemorate President Carter’s legacy, the flags will be flown at half-staff until January 28th.
