Groveport Police Are Investigating After a Man’s Body Found Floating in Retention Pond

Columbus, OH – Groveport Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in a retention pond on Friday afternoon.

The case began early Friday morning when authorities received a report of an abandoned vehicle around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Opus Drive and Rohr Road. Officers from the Groveport Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office searched the area but found nothing unusual at the time.

Later that day, at approximately 12:40 p.m., emergency personnel from the Madison Township Fire Department were called to the same area following a report of a body seen floating in a retention pond. The body of a man was recovered and pronounced dead at the scene around 1:00 p.m., according to Lt. Doug Smith.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not yet been made public.
