Ohio Community Honors Fallen Morrow County Deputy Daniel Sherrer with Heartfelt Tribute

The Morrow County community came together on Tuesday to pay tribute to Deputy Daniel Weston Sherrer, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while responding to a domestic incident on Memorial Day.

Hundreds gathered at Northmor High School for Deputy Sherrer’s public visitation, which began at 1 p.m. and lasted into the evening. The auditorium was filled with heartfelt stories, shared memories, and photographs of the 31-year-old deputy who served with dedication and joy.

Deputy Sherrer’s father expressed deep gratitude to the community, emphasizing the comfort brought by the widespread support.

Sheriff John Hinton described the response as overwhelming, stating:

“You never realize the depth of love and appreciation people have until a heartbreaking tragedy like this occurs.”

Hinton spoke warmly about Sherrer’s vibrant spirit, sense of humor, and commitment to his department, calling him a true blessing. Multiple law enforcement agencies from nearby counties have offered their assistance, showing solidarity as the department mourns a significant loss.

Sherrer’s funeral is set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, also at Northmor High School. Sheriff Hinton noted the funeral will be a solemn yet beautiful occasion to honor a fallen hero.
