59-Year-Old Richard Lindgren Taken into Custody – Buckeye Lake Shooting Suspect Arrested

Buckeye Lake, Ohio – The suspect in a fatal bar shooting that occurred late Friday night in Buckeye Lake has been captured out of state. Authorities confirmed that 59-year-old Richard Lindgren was arrested on Saturday in Orangeburg, South Carolina, following a multi-state manhunt.

According to a Facebook update from the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, Lindgren was taken into custody without resistance after his vehicle was located and stopped by a South Carolina State Trooper, with assistance from Orangeburg County deputies.

A nationwide warrant had been issued earlier that day, connecting Lindgren to the shooting death of Benjamin Hawk at a local Buckeye Lake bar. Surveillance cameras in South Carolina picked up Lindgren’s vehicle, prompting collaboration between law enforcement agencies in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Licking County Sheriff’s detectives will be traveling to Orangeburg to continue the investigation and coordinate next steps.

This arrest marks a significant development in a case that has drawn regional attention, highlighting the role of interstate law enforcement coordination and technology in capturing suspects on the run.
