9th Annual Zoom Duck Derby Delights Central Ohio Families
Thousands gathered at Zoombezi Bay near the Columbus Zoo on Sunday for the 9th Annual Zoom Duck Derby, a heartwarming event that brings together fun and purpose. Participants purchased rubber ducks to compete in a cheerful river race, all in support of The Alpha Group of Delaware County, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals with developmental disabilities across Central Ohio.
This year’s event saw 7,000 ducks racing down the lazy river, surpassing last year’s total of 6,000 ducks and raising more than $30,000 to support job training, transportation for medical appointments, and other essential services across 13 counties.
“We are thrilled to see how the community shows up year after year,” said Liz Owens-Detillion, CEO of The Alpha Group. “It is a wonderful way to highlight the people we serve and the work we are doing across Central Ohio.”
As the organization looks ahead, they are setting their sights on an even bigger impact — with a goal to sell 10,000 ducks for the 2026 race.
Events like the Zoom Duck Derby not only raise crucial funds, but they also strengthen local community ties and help give visibility to those making a difference in Ohio.
