1 Dead After Fatal Head-On Collision on Port Road and London Groveport Road in Franklin County
A tragic accident in Franklin County claimed one life Thursday evening after a head-on collision on Port Road near London Groveport Road, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say the driver of a Jeep Cherokee veered left of the center line for reasons yet to be determined, colliding head-on with a Volvo semi-truck hauling a trailer that was traveling in the opposite direction.
The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway, landing in ditches on either side of the street.
Emergency crews from Madison Township and Hamilton Township responded to the scene alongside Franklin County deputies. The semi-truck driver was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition, while the Jeep driver was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:02 p.m.
