18 Year Old Killed in Pickaway County Crash
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal late-night crash that killed an 18-year-old woman and injured a teen passenger on Tuesday.
Deputies were called to Welch Road near Lane Road around 11:45 p.m. after an iPhone crash alert was triggered. Shortly after, a 911 caller also reported the single-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta that had gone off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 18-year-old Kyla Caudy of Lockbourne, was taken to Mount Carmel Grove City, where she later died.
A 19-year-old passenger was transported to Grant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say Caudy was driving north on Welch Road when the car slid off the right side, traveled through wet grass, and hit a tree. The crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
