A 31-year-old man has died following a shooting on the west side of Columbus, authorities report.
Columbus Division of Police Sgt. James Fuqua confirmed that officers responded to a report of a shooting around 3:20 p.m. in the 500 block of South Richardson Avenue, in the South-Central Hilltop neighborhood.
Officers found the victim, later identified as James Pettigrew, suffering from a gunshot wound. Pettigrew was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition but was pronounced dead at 3:53 p.m.
Police have not released information about any suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
