Bomb Threats at Three Olentangy Elementary Schools Believed to Be a Swatting Hoax

On Monday morning, three Olentangy Elementary SchoolsFreedom Trail, Oak Creek, and Tyler Run, received reported bomb threats, prompting immediate action from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and district officials.

The schools were placed on a “hold” status, meaning students and staff remained safely in classrooms while security protocols were followed. According to Olentangy Schools, learning continued indoors during the lockdown.

The bomb threats are now believed to be a swatting hoax, as initial investigations by law enforcement have not uncovered credible danger. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed they are continuing to monitor the situation, and law enforcement presence has been increased at all three campuses as a precaution.

The district urged parents not to come to the schools and reassured families that all students are safe. All schools in the district were temporarily placed under “SECURE” mode until the situation was reviewed.
