Columbus Thanksgiving Trash Pickup Schedule: What Residents Need to Know
Columbus, Ohio – Thanksgiving will be observed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and with the federal holiday, many public services across Columbus will temporarily pause including some changes to the city’s trash collection schedule.
Updated Columbus Trash Schedule for Thanksgiving Week
The City of Columbus follows a holiday service policy that shifts trash pickup forward by one day whenever a regularly scheduled collection falls on a major holiday.
This year, Thursday pickup will move to Wednesday, Nov. 26.
However, recycling and yard-waste services will run on their normal schedules without any changes.
Residents can verify their specific service day through the city’s “Find My Collection Day” tool, which provides real-time updates and zone information during holiday weeks.
Thanksgiving Week Collection Dates by Zone

To ensure timely pickup, residents should place trash containers at the curb by 6 p.m. the night before collection and remove them by 2 p.m. after trucks have passed.
