President Donald Trump confirms that Ilhan Omar is under Federal Investigation
President Donald Trump on Monday announced he is sending former acting ICE Director Tom Homan to Minnesota, while also leveling sharp accusations against Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar in a statement posted on social media.
In the post, Trump said Homan would arrive in Minnesota “tonight” to oversee Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations and report directly to him. Trump described Homan as “tough but fair” and said he is familiar with law enforcement personnel in the state, despite not previously being involved in operations there.

The statement went on to claim that a “major investigation” is underway into what Trump described as more than $20 billion in welfare fraud in Minnesota, which he alleged has contributed to ongoing protests in the state. Trump did not provide evidence or details supporting the claim, nor did he specify which agencies are leading the investigation.
Trump also singled out Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat and Somali-born lawmaker, alleging that the Department of Justice and Congress are examining her finances. In the post, Trump claimed Omar, who arrived in the United States as a refugee, is now worth more than $44 million. No official confirmation of such an investigation or valuation has been released by federal authorities.
The announcement comes amid heightened political tensions in Minnesota, where immigration enforcement, protests, and federal oversight have become central issues in national political discourse. Trump concluded his message by saying “time will tell all,” signaling that further developments may follow.
