
Tragedy in Union County: Toddler Drowns in Rural Pond Near Marysville, Ohio
A heartbreaking incident occurred on Sunday evening after a 19-month-old girl was found unresponsive in a rural pond near Marysville. The Union County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the toddler later died despite efforts to save her.
Authorities received a distress call at 7:23 PM reporting a child found in a pond along the 19000 block of Paver Barnes Road, a sparsely populated area northwest of Marysville. A sheriff’s deputy arrived within minutes and immediately began CPR. Emergency medics from the Marysville Fire Department soon took over and transported the toddler to Memorial Hospital.
Unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead at 9:03 PM, according to a press release. The incident occurred in a quiet residential stretch of Union County with a few nearby homes and a church.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are jointly investigating the toddler’s drowning. Her remains have been sent to the Montgomery County Crime Lab for autopsy.
