Jami Goldstein, chief creative officer for the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC), stated that ARTober’s primary goals are to enhance access to arts and events throughout Columbus and to boost the local economy. The GCAC, in collaboration with local partners, is providing special deals for residents, including discounted rates and free entry to various artistic experiences.

Among the featured events, Thurber House will host a free Halloween special on October 10th. The Wexner Center for the Arts is also offering free exhibitions and screenings throughout the month. Additionally, Ballet Met’s production of “Maryland” is scheduled for October, with special discounts available.

Leaders hope these events will encourage residents to explore new cultural experiences while supporting the artists, organizations, and businesses that contribute significantly to the region’s economic health. Goldstein emphasized the substantial economic impact of the arts sector in Columbus.

According to Goldstein, the nonprofit arts sector alone supports 13,000 jobs annually and generates $885 million in economic activity. When including film, media, music venues, and individual artists, the total economic contribution to Columbus exceeds $2 billion annually, supporting 22,000 jobs.
