Flyers promoting the Ku Klux Klan were found near schools and in various central Ohio neighborhoods on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The discovery prompted swift condemnation from local authorities and community leaders.

Worthington police confirmed that flyers were placed in Worthington on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, similar flyers were found in Clintonville near World Language Middle School and Indian Springs Elementary School. Online reports also indicated flyers in Upper Arlington and Hillsboro in southwest Ohio.

These flyers featured an image of a Klan member alongside a Flock Safety camera, advertising a “Neighborhood Watch.” They also included a website address and a P.O. Box located in Aberdeen, Brown County, Ohio.

The flyers were attributed to the “Trinity White Knights,” a faction of the Ku Klux Klan. The Southern Poverty Law Center identifies this group as one of only 10 remaining KKK factions in the United States. William Bader, identified as the leader of the “Trinity White Knights,” was previously cited for littering in 2025 after distributing similar flyers in Lincoln Heights.

The NAACP Columbus branch issued a statement condemning the flyers. “The Klan wants attention. If they truly wish to be acknowledged, they should take off the hoods, show their faces, and stand in the daylight. Instead, they hide behind paper and anonymity. That is cowardice, and cowardice does not earn our attention,” the statement read. It added, “Without faces or names, the only people living in fear are the ones who left these flyers. We have nothing to fear. Their words are as empty as their threats.”

Columbus City Schools also released a statement, emphasizing that “Hate has no place in Columbus City Schools or in the communities we serve. There is nothing acceptable about negatively targeting people because of who they are. Our schools should be places where students come to learn, grow, and feel safe.” The district affirmed its commitment to standing against hate and ensuring dignity and respect for all members of its school communities.

Worthington Superintendent Trent Bowers, Board President Amber Epling-Skinner, and Board Vice President Stephanie Harless released a joint statement online. “In Worthington, we welcome ALL. What we won’t accept are people who spread their hate under the cover of darkness. And we won’t tolerate this,” they stated. They also assured the community that school administrators, counselors, and security teams are aware of the situation and will be vigilant in supporting students and staff.
