House Democrats plan to push a resolution limiting President Trump’s war powers on Iran during a pro forma session, despite expected Republican opposition.

Democrats Push to Limit Trump’s War Powers on Iran
House Democrats are preparing to push a resolution aimed at limiting President Donald Trump’s authority to conduct military operations in Iran.
Hakeem Jeffries announced the plan in a letter to colleagues, stating that Democrats will attempt to pass the measure by unanimous consent during a pro forma House session scheduled for Thursday.
Jeffries criticized the administration’s handling of the conflict and a recently announced ceasefire, arguing that a short-term pause is not sufficient to address broader concerns.
The resolution, introduced by Greg Meeks, seeks to require congressional approval before further military action is taken against Iran.
Republican leadership is expected to block the unanimous consent request, making passage during the session unlikely.
