Historically, U.S. law has restricted the depiction of living individuals on currency. However, legislation passed at the end of Trump’s first term, the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020—introduced provisions allowing for special commemorative designs tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
