Disney Channels Pulled from YouTube TV Amid Contract Dispute

A major contract fallout between YouTube TV and The Walt Disney Company has triggered the removal of Disney-owned networks from the streaming platform. The blackout, announced late on October 30, 2025, impacts popular channels such as ABC, ESPN, FX, National Geographic, and Disney Channel.

According to YouTube TV, Disney demanded significantly higher carriage fees and contract terms that would increase costs for subscribers while giving preference to its competing streaming bundles like Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.

“We will not agree to terms that disadvantage our members while benefiting Disney’s own live-TV products,” YouTube TV said in a public statement.

The blackout means subscribers have lost access to local ABC affiliates, ESPN’s live sports coverage (including the NFL, NBA, and college football), and a variety of entertainment and kids’ programming.

YouTube TV, which offers more than 100 live channels for $82.99 per month, confirmed it is still negotiating and will issue a $20 credit if Disney’s channels remain unavailable for an extended period.

Meanwhile, fans of ESPN can continue accessing sports coverage via the standalone ESPN app.

This marks the third major dispute in two months for YouTube TV involving top network partners. The situation mirrors a previous 2021 blackout, which ended after just over a day, but it remains uncertain how long the current standoff will last.

As competition intensifies among live-TV streaming services, this conflict highlights the increasing tension between content owners and distribution platforms, each vying for leverage in a rapidly evolving digital media landscape.
