Maurice Clarett Appointed to Franklin County Parks and Recreation Board
Maurice Clarett, former Ohio State University (OSU) standout running back and now respected mentor, continues to make a positive impact in Columbus, Ohio. On December 2, the Franklin County Commissioners officially appointed Clarett to the Franklin County Parks and Recreation Board of Trustees.
The board, responsible for overseeing the county-owned Clippers Triple-A baseball team, is composed of seven volunteers serving three-year terms. Clarett expressed his gratitude on social media, stating, “Thank you to the Franklin County Board Of Commissioners for appointing me to the Franklin County Parks and Recreation Board. Itโs an honor to serve on the board.”
Clarett made a name for himself as a freshman at OSU in 2002, helping lead the Buckeyes to a national championship. Although his career faced challenges, including suspensions and legal issues, Clarett has turned his life around. Since his release, he has become a motivational speaker and mentor to student-athletes nationwide.
About a year ago, OSU football coach Ryan Day welcomed Clarett back to the program, where he now provides guidance and mentorship to current Buckeyes players, inspiring the next generation of athletes.
Clarettโs appointment to the Parks and Recreation Board highlights his continued dedication to serving the Columbus community and supporting local sports initiatives.
