
May 6 Election Day: What Ohio Voters Need to Know
Columbus, Ohio – Today is May 6 Election Day, and Ohio voters are heading to the polls to make decisions that will shape local leadership, public funding, and statewide policy. One key issue on the ballot is State Issue 2, which proposes issuing general obligation bonds to finance public infrastructure projects across the state.
When Do Ohio Polls Open and Close?
Polling stations throughout Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

What ID Do Ohio Voters Need?
To vote in person on May 6, you must present one of the following unexpired photo IDs:
- Ohio driver’s license or state ID
- U.S. passport or passport card
- Military ID (including Ohio National Guard)
- VA ID card
- Interim Ohio BMV ID
Unaccepted Forms of ID:
- Out-of-state IDs
- Utility bills
- Social Security cards
- Bank statements or paychecks
- Any registration notice
When Will Ohio Election Results Be Available?
Initial results will start coming in shortly after 7:30 p.m., beginning with early and absentee ballots.
