King Charles III to Visit U.S. for 250th Anniversary State Visit

The United Kingdom’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to visit the United States later this April as part of celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the state visit, which will take place from April 27 to April 30, following an invitation from President Donald Trump. The visit is expected to highlight the longstanding relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States.

According to official statements, the royal visit will include a formal state banquet at the White House on April 28, hosted by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The trip is intended to celebrate both the historical ties and modern partnership between the two nations.

This will be King Charles III’s first official state visit to the U.S. since ascending the throne in 2023. Prior to becoming king, he visited the country numerous times as Prince of Wales. His late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, also made several state visits during her reign.

The visit follows Trump’s recent trip to the United Kingdom, where he attended a state dinner at Windsor Castle alongside members of the royal family, including Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales.

After concluding engagements in Washington, the king is expected to continue his trip with a visit to Bermuda, according to Buckingham Palace.

The upcoming visit comes at a time of both strong diplomatic ties and ongoing political differences between the U.S. and U.K. governments, particularly regarding international conflicts and foreign policy decisions.

Despite these differences, officials say the state visit will focus on strengthening cooperation and celebrating shared history between the two countries.
