Ohio State University Marching Band Set to Perform at Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Ohio State University Marching Band is taking its famous performance style to an international stage this week.
On Tuesday, the band — often called “The Best Damn Band in the Land” — will perform in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. The parade is scheduled to begin at noon local time (8 a.m. EST).
Organizers expect between two and three million spectators to attend the event, making it one of the largest public celebrations in Ireland. For many members of the band, the massive audience is far bigger than what they typically experience during performances at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
Band member Christopher White said the expected crowd size is remarkable.
“We are used to around 100,000 people in the stadium, which already feels huge,” White said. “But hearing that millions could attend the parade is mind-boggling.”
This marks the marching band’s second major international performance. The group first performed overseas in 2015 during an NFL International Series game at Wembley Stadium.
