The full Ohio State University Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on final approval for the investment plan on Thursday. Amy Burgess, associate vice president of administration and planning, noted that capital projects are defined as facility efforts costing $250,000 or more. The plan accounts for expected initial spending in fiscal year 2027 alongside remaining funds for previously sanctioned projects.

Under the proposed budget, several key campus facilities will receive major overhauls. Hughes Hall is slated for a $57.3 million renovation that will establish classrooms, offices, collaboration spaces, and an artificial intelligence hub. Ramseyer Hall will undergo interior modernizations intended to update its facilities while preserving its architectural character. Blankenship Hall, which houses public safety and police operations, will be upgraded with a new press briefing room and a real-time crime center.

Additionally, the Fawcett Center will undergo a $6.5 million renovation to convert 20,000 square feet of vacant space. The project will feature two renovated studios, two meeting rooms, office and support areas, and a dedicated gathering space for student recruiting.

The capital plan also reshapes student housing on the north end of campus. Ohio State University decided to demolish Jones Tower due to financial considerations. Meanwhile, Taylor Tower and Drackett Tower will undergo major maintenance and infrastructure upgrades starting in April, with both residence halls scheduled to open in fall 2028. University President Ravi Bellamkonda and planning officials indicated that student enrollment targets are helping shape the broader residential plan.

Other elements of the multi-year investment package encompass projects at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, roof replacement at Knowleton Hall, and general infrastructure improvements such as connecting chilled water piping systems.
