Columbus Gas Prices Hold Steady at $2.94
COLUMBUS, OH – Drivers across Central Ohio are getting a brief break at the gas pumps this week as average gas prices remain unchanged from the previous week, according to the latest GasBuddy survey.
Gas prices in Columbus are currently averaging $2.94 per gallon, the same as last week. That figure is 14.6 cents higher than a month ago, but still 12.9 cents lower than the same time last year.
The lowest gas price recorded in the Columbus area was $2.39 per gallon, while the highest reached $3.19, showing a notable 80-cent price gap between stations. Across Ohio, the statewide average also held steady at $2.91 per gallon.
National Gas Price Trends
Nationally, gas prices inched down by 1.4 cents per gallon to an average of $2.99, while diesel prices climbed 2.5 cents to $3.66 per gallon, GasBuddy reported.
Experts Warn of Potential Price Increases
Although prices have remained stable, analysts caution that refinery issues in the Midwest and rising oil production in December could cause gas prices to climb in the coming weeks.
Patrick De Haan, Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy, noted,
“The national average once again briefly dipped below the $3 mark, but the drop will be short-lived. Prices in the Great Lakes states may rebound due to ongoing refinery challenges.”
Motorists are advised to monitor local stations and use real-time gas price trackers to find the most affordable options as winter demand increases.
