Ohio State Buckeyes beats Bobcats 37 – 9
Columbus, Ohio — The No. 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes extended their undefeated streak in the 2025 college football season with a commanding 37-9 victory over the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday night at Ohio Stadium.
Julian Sayin Shines with Three Touchdowns
Quarterback Julian Sayin led the Buckeyes’ offense, throwing three touchdown passes to wide receivers Max Klare, Jeremiah Smith, and Carnell Tate. Sayin’s precision and leadership helped Ohio State improve to 3-0 as they head into their first bye week of the season.
Defensive Battle Early, Explosive Finish
Both teams’ defenses held strong early on, making it a slow offensive start. Ohio State finally broke through late in the second quarter when Sayin found Klare for a 16-yard touchdown pass. The Bobcats responded early in the second half with quarterback Parker Navarro connecting on a 67-yard touchdown pass to Chase Hendricks, cutting the lead to four points.
However, Sayin and the Buckeyes answered with two long touchdown passes, a 47-yarder to Jeremiah Smith and a 49-yard score to Carnell Tate to secure the decisive win.
Jeremiah Smith Sets Record
Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith reached a major milestone in the game. On a 42-yard catch during the opening drive, Smith became the fastest Ohio State receiver ever to reach 1,500 career receiving yards in just 19 games, breaking the previous record held by Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
What’s Next for the Buckeyes?
After the bye week, Ohio State will travel to face Washington in their Big Ten opener on September 27, 2025. Fans can expect the Buckeyes to continue their strong start as they aim for a championship season.
