Suspect Arrested in Charlie Kirk Shooting: Tyler Robinson in Custody

Authorities in Utah have arrested Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, during a public event earlier this week.

The announcement was made during a press conference Friday by Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who confirmed that Robinson is now in custody and has been booked into the Utah County Jail. The charges include aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we got him,” Gov. Cox stated.

According to state officials, a family friend contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday night, revealing that Robinson had confessed or strongly implied his involvement in the fatal incident. A family member later confirmed to investigators that Robinson had expressed strong political opinions and had discussed his disapproval of Charlie Kirk’s scheduled appearance at Utah Valley University.

Investigators say forensic evidence has been collected and is currently under analysis at FBI laboratories in Quantico. FBI Director Kash Patel added that the bureau has received over 11,000 tips from the public in connection with the case.

This tragic event continues to draw nationwide attention, especially among conservative political circles and college communities across states like Ohio, where Kirk was scheduled to appear later this fall.
