Body recovered from Ohio River in Kentucky identified

Authorities have identified a body recovered from the Ohio River in northeast Kentucky as Columbus man

Lewis County Sheriff Johnny Bivens said the body was identified as Jason D. Frisbie, 38, of Columbus. Kentucky authorities worked alongside Ohio officials this week to confirm his identity.

According to Bivens, the Lewis County Sheriffโ€™s Office received a call around 4:30 p.m. on May 4 reporting a body in the Ohio River near Vanceburg, Kentucky, located a few miles south of Ohioโ€™s Shawnee State Park. Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the body to the Kentucky State Medical Examinerโ€™s Office.

Authorities later asked the public for help identifying the individual. On May 9, Bivens confirmed that the body had been identified as Frisbie after coordination with Ohio officials and local emergency responders.

The investigation into the death remains ongoing. Authorities have not released details regarding a possible cause of death.
