
Columbus Police Seek Information on Fatal West Columbus Crash That Killed Two
The Columbus Police Department is continuing its investigation into a multi-vehicle crash that killed two people in west Columbus on Saturday evening and is now seeking the public’s help to gather more information.
Two Dead after Motorcycle and Car Crash at Roberts and Hilliard Rome Roads in West Columbus
According to authorities, the collision occurred around 7:02 p.m. at the intersection of Hilliard Rome Road and Roberts Road, just south of Hilliard. Responding officers discovered two people, who had been riding a motorcycle, lying on the roadway after a crash involving a Honda Civic.
Investigators say a Yamaha motorcycle was heading south on Hilliard Rome Road when the Honda Civic, which had been waiting to turn west onto Roberts Road, proceeded into the intersection and collided with the motorcycle.
The passenger of the motorcycle died at the scene, and the operator later succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The Honda driver was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with police.
The victims’ names have not yet been released, pending family notification. The Accident Investigation Unit continues to examine the circumstances that led to the crash and is urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or witness accounts to contact the Columbus Division of Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
