Franklin County Man Held on $8M Bond in Italian Village Murder Case
A Franklin County judge has ordered an $8 million bond for a 42-year-old man accused of killing a woman in an alleged domestic violence incident in Columbus’ Italian Village neighborhood.
Michael Johnson, 42, appeared in court Monday after being charged with murder in connection with the death of 45-year-old Tiffany Creech.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers responded to the 900 block of North 4th Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report of an unknown incident. When officers arrived, they found Creech suffering from severe blunt force injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators also found a juvenile inside the home who had sustained injuries. The child was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Court records from Franklin County Municipal Court allege that Johnson struck Creech with a baseball bat during the incident.
Police said the couple had a documented history of domestic violence, and investigators believe the homicide stemmed from that ongoing abuse.
Johnson remains in custody on an $8 million bond as the murder case proceeds through the Franklin County court system.
