John Glenn Airport Adds New Nonstop Flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Travelers flying from Columbus will soon have a new direct route to the Caribbean as John Glenn Columbus International Airport prepares to launch nonstop service to San Juan, Puerto Rico, through Southwest Airlines.
The new route is scheduled to begin on February 13, 2027, providing Central Ohio residents with a convenient option for winter vacations and leisure travel without the need for connecting flights.
According to the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, San Juan has long been one of the most requested destinations not currently served by nonstop flights from Columbus. Airport officials said the addition reflects continued efforts to expand travel opportunities for passengers across the region.
“We are grateful to Southwest Airlines for introducing this nonstop service starting in February, just in time for midwinter getaways,” said Daren Griffin, president and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, in a statement released June 4.
The San Juan route marks the second new nonstop destination announced for 2027 and is part of a broader expansion strategy that has seen significant growth in direct air service from Columbus. Since the start of 2026, airport officials have announced 12 new nonstop routes, enhancing connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.
John Glenn Columbus International Airport and Rickenbacker International Airport, both operated by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, now offer travelers access to more than 55 nonstop destinations. The authority also oversees operations at Bolton Field.
The addition of nonstop service to Puerto Rico is expected to strengthen Columbus’ travel network while providing passengers with easier access to one of the Caribbean’s most popular vacation destinations.
