Pappasโ€™ sons, Louie and Michael, spoke emotionally about their father’s legacy, describing him as humble, authentic, and unaware of the profound influence he had. โ€œIf you told him they were naming a street after him, he would have said, โ€˜Why?โ€™ And then maybe, โ€˜Why not West Broad Street?โ€™โ€ joked Michael.

Tennessee Man Charged with Rape and Kidnapping in Grandview Heights, Ohio

A 31-year-old man from Chattanooga, Tennessee has been charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault and abduction of a 15-year-old girl at a hotel in Grandview Heights, Columbus, Ohio.

The Grandview Heights Division of Police responded to a report of a sexual assault at Nationwide Childrenโ€™s Hospital on May 4. The teenage victim informed authorities that the assault began on April 28 after she met the suspect, Davarus Delaney, at a hotel located in the 700 block of Yard Street. The pair had reportedly been communicating through social media for several months before the incident.

According to police, the girl was held against her will and sexually assaulted multiple times over two days. Delaney allegedly displayed a firearm, made verbal threats, and restricted the girlโ€™s movements. In a filed complaint, it was further alleged that he suffocated the victim using a pillow.

Following an investigation, Delaney was arrested on June 5 in Tennessee by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and Chattanooga Police. He was extradited to Franklin County, Ohio, on June 10. Authorities stated that Delaney admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the minor and was aware of her age.

He now faces multiple felony charges including two counts of rape and two counts of kidnapping. He remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail as the investigation continues, and more charges may follow.

“We donโ€™t want to see the same injustices in Columbus that we are witnessing in Los Angeles,” said Deja Gaston, one of the protest leaders. “We are here to stand with immigrant families who are facing an alarming escalation of deportations under the Trump administration.”

Activists shared emotional stories, highlighting the human impact of immigration raids and policy changes. Organizers like Shenby G voiced concern over family separations and mass deportations. โ€œItโ€™s heartbreaking to watch families being torn apart. Children should not be deported or taken from their parents,โ€ she said.

Columbus, Ohio – Despite a recent decrease in drug overdose fatalities in Ohio, law enforcement officials are issuing a critical warning to parents, educators, and teenagers. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a surge in counterfeit pills laced with Carfentanil โ€” a dangerously potent synthetic opioid โ€” is creating a silent but deadly epidemic, especially in Columbus and surrounding areas.

Carfentanil, which is 100 times stronger than fentanyl and used to tranquilize elephants, is now being found in pills disguised as common medications like oxycodone and Adderall. These fakes are almost impossible to detect without lab testing and have already led to several fatal incidents.

โ€œWe have seized multiple ounces just this year, and what is scarier is what we havenโ€™t found,โ€ said Assistant Special Agent Brian Mulcahy of the DEA Columbus division. โ€œA speck the size of a pencil tip can be enough to kill someone.โ€

The DEA is continuing its “One Pill Can Kill” campaign, encouraging parents to talk openly with their children about the risks of taking any pill that doesnโ€™t come directly from a licensed medical professional.

Law enforcement also notes an alarming rise in youth experimentation driven by peer pressure and social media trends, adding urgency to these conversations. The potential for a single, fake pill to end a life has never been higher.

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has announced an Air Quality Alert for the Columbus, Ohio area, including Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, and Licking counties, effective through midnight on Sunday. This alert is due to drifting wildfire smoke from Canada, which has significantly elevated particulate matter (PM2.5) levels in the region.

According to MORPC, light northeasterly winds are pushing the smoke into central Ohio, while atmospheric mixing in the afternoon is drawing more pollutants to the surface. These factors are causing the Air Quality Index (AQI) to reach levels considered unhealthy for sensitive groupsโ€”such as children, older adults, and individuals with asthma or chronic respiratory conditions.

The AQI scale, which ranges from 0 to 500, marks levels over 100 as hazardous for vulnerable populations. MORPC advises residents in affected areas to limit prolonged outdoor exposure, especially during the afternoon hours.
